There is no train on the peninsula, so this is a road move down Pittwater Road like everywhere else, and the mid-beaches timing means an off-peak booking genuinely saves time on the arterial. It is a village-feeling suburb where people tend to stay, so the moves are often careful whole-house jobs, and the planning is about the narrow approach and the loading spot rather than any permit, because there is no removal-truck permit to buy here.
Where Freshwater sits on the run to the city
The Northern Beaches is the only major Sydney region with no train or metro, so every move is a road move. And the road climbs a real 27 km from the southern beaches (13.1 km at Balgowlah) up to Palm Beach (40.2 km) at the tip — one way in, one way out. That gradient is why a far-north move is a different job from a Manly one. Freshwater is about 18 km from the CBD by road.

Can a removal truck get down the narrow Freshwater beach streets?
Often only partway. The beach-access streets are narrow and beachfront parking is limited, so a full-size truck cannot always get a clean run to the door. We scout a workable loading position, keep the carry as short as the street allows, and where the street is too tight we stage back or use a smaller vehicle for the run to the truck.
Is parking restricted near Freshwater Beach for the truck?
Yes, around the beachfront. There is no removal-truck permit to buy, and the beachfront has limited and time-limited parking, so we plan the loading position off the busy frontage where we can and work efficiently. On the quieter residential streets it is legal parking, a scouted spot and good timing.
How long does it take to drive a Freshwater move to the city?
As an honest band, roughly 25 to 30 minutes off-peak and 40 to 50 in peak. There is no train on the Northern Beaches, so it is a road move down Pittwater Road, and the spread between off-peak and peak is real, which is why we suggest booking off-peak where the day allows.
